Knorr Bremse R&D Center Budapest (Hungary)
Knorr Bremse is the world leading brake, suspension and other chassis system supplier for railway and commercial vehicles. The role of the Budapest R&D centre in the project is conception, system development and delivery of the axle module, an integration of different interdependent SW concept to securely interact with the electro-mechanic brake (allowing dry braking) and differential stability control system (EDS). Furthermore the implementation of the vehicle dynamic control system developed in previously running project PEIT in the new axle control module will be performed.
Knorr-Bremse has been developing and manufacturing braking systems for commercial
vehicles since 1920. For trucks and semi-trailer tractor units over 6 tonnes,
buses, trailers or special vehicles – our product portfolio ranges from air
supply and treatment systems via brake and chassis control systems right down
to wheel brakes. And every product can be configured to meet specific customer
requirements.
Knorr-Bremse is a systems supplier with a wide range of both tried-and tested
and innovative brake systems and components – all of which meet the relevant
international standards. This is guaranteed by the fact that every one of our
plants and manufacturing processes is certified under QS 9000. And our management
system prioritises continuous improvement of product quality and optimisation
of business processes.
A combination of decades of experience of braking technology and the company's
global development activities has enabled Knorr-Bremse to gather a vast quantity
of specialist expertise and innovative capacity. All our development projects
draw on our combined skills in three main areas of technology – mechanical and
electronic engineering and pneumatics.
Very important characteristic of Knorr Bremse is the internationalism, especially
in Europe, since KB has activities in almost all European countries, production
and R&D from England through Hungary to Turkey. Concerning the Eastern-European
activities, Knorr Bremse was the first multi-national company in Hungary, who
established high level R&D unit in the country besides the existing production.
State-of-the-art development tools, simulations and rigorous testing ensure
that the name Knorr-Bremse remains synonymous with extremely rugged systems
offering safe and reliable braking even under the harshest conditions.
Innovative products such as the ESP electronic stability programme, pneumatic
disc brakes and compressors equipped with energy-saving devices set new standards
in brake technology.
