Kögel Fahrzeugwerke AG (Germany)
As at 31 December 2001, the Kögel Group had a worldwide workforce of 2.064 employees. 270 service centres alone in Germany - Europe-wide there are 340. Over 24,000 vehicles and bodies leaving our plants every year. KÖGEL has been involved right from the beginning and, as one of the pioneers in intermodal transport, the company has been responsible for important developments in the system up to strongly supporting the European standardization. Again and again, innovations and further developments in this sector bear the name of KÖGEL which, of course, mean placing the advantages for the haulier directly in the foreground. Cost-effectiveness and increased efficiency of vehicle use are arguments which speak for themselves. Special equipment allows the transport of platform semi-trailers and containers in road/rail intermodal transport. Specifically, this means: longer distances by rail, direct delivery by truck (also without rail connection), a "rendezvous" system to exploit the maximum permissible driving time on the roads, and as an intermediate storage facility for the cargo. The dual-modal/intermodal equipment from KÖGEL takes all of this into consideration and offers the haulier the highest possible flexibility. For internal swap body transfer, too, KÖGEL demonstrates its expertise with the Weasel special vehicle which moves containers quickly, reliably, safely and cost-effectively.
